For the past 7 years the Louisville Youth Orchestra, with the
assistance of the Oldham County School system, has offered string
instruction for students in grades 1 through 5. For the 2008-2009
school year we are offering three classes after school on Thursdays
(the Presto Strings, Allegro Strings and the Sonatina Strings). All
classes will be held at the Oldham County Arts Center. Instruction
is for students wishing to learn to play violin, viola, or cello.
You may register your student for one of these classes by filling
out a
registration form and mailing it along with your $50
registration fee to:
Louisville Youth Orchestra
PO Box 997
Louisville, KY 40201-0997
Once we have received your registration you will be placed on our
e-mail list and will receive further information in this manner. On
Thursday, September 18 at 7:30 pm, there will be a parent/member
meeting where your child will be measured for an instrument. The
first class will begin on Thursday, September 25 at the designated
class time. Our classes are offered on a first-come, first-serve
basis so send your registration early to insure a spot for your
child. Please read the class descriptions below to make a proper
class selection.
There are a limited number of scholarships available for financially
disadvantaged members. For further information about our scholarship
program or to receive additional information about these classes
please contact the LYO office at 502-896-1851 or visit us at
