We are delighted to announce that Doug Elmore will become the seventh LYO Music Director and Symphony Orchestra Conductor on July 1, 2017.  He succeeds Deanna Tham who is accepting an Assistant Conductor position with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.

Doug has served as Repertory Orchestra Conductor since 2014 and has done remarkable work in developing both its size and its levels of quality.  The orchestra has grown more than 10% and now plays increasingly advanced repertoire.  He is highly regarded both within the LYO and throughout the area.  During his thirty-year-career, he has served as Orchestra Director at Floyd Central High School and Highland Hills Middle School as well as with the Floyd County Youth Symphony.  This past year the FCHS Symphony Orchestra was awarded ISSMA State Championship, a tribute to his leadership and accomplishments with young musicians.

Deanna was just offered the new position in early June and it is a wonderful opportunity for her.  We are so fortunate that Doug Elmore has agreed to accept the LYO Music Director role when she leaves at the end of June.  He is someone most of us already know and respect and we look forward to his exciting leadership as LYO moves forward.
