All Seniors!

All seniors need to give your Production Manager the following information as soon as possible.

  1. Number of years you have been a member of the LYO
  2. University you will be attending after graduation
  3. Your choice of majors at your university

We need this information for your LYO graduation certificate and Beethoven score!  These items will be handed out to you at our final performance on April 30 at Iroquois Amphitheatre.

All Seniors!

Once again we will continue the tradition of a senior send-off picnic at Iroquois Amphitheater prior to the concert on April 30.  This year we ask that our different sections bring the following item to ensure enough food for all.

Winds:  Desserts

Brass:  Drinks

Violins/Violas:  Meat appetizers/finger foods

Cellos/Basses/Perc:  Non-meat appetizers/finger foods

The picnic will take place behind the audience seating area at the top of the hill.  The picnic will take place from 2-3 pm with clean-up between 3:00-3:30 before the doors officially open for the concert.

Pegasus Pins on Sale!

Our LYO season always ends with a Derby Festival event at Iroquois Amphitheater on the Sunday immediately prior to Derby Day.  This concert is free; however, a Pegasus Pin is required for entry.  As part of our contract with the Derby Festival we are required to sell a certain number of pins.  Once we meet our requirement a small profit is made on additional sales.  You can help the LYO by purchasing your Pegasus Pins through LYO!  Please purchase your Pegasus Pins at your Production Manager’s desk between now and Sunday, April 30.  Pegasus Pins are $6.

Louisville Orchestra Free Tickets!

The Louisville Orchestra has generous offered free tickets for their Saturday, April 15 concert – Festival of American Music I: A Celebration of Michael Tilson Thomas!  If you are interested in attending please e-mail Carla Given Motes at  cgivan@louisvilleorchestra.org with your request BEFORE Wednesday, April 12 at close of business.  Please identify yourself as an LYO member and indicate the number of tickets you are requesting.  Your tickets will be at will call on the evening of the performance.  The concert will take place at Whitney Hall at the Kentucky Center.  Due to this generous offer of free ticket the dinner and LO concert trip for Symphony, Repertory, Horizons and Percussion Ens has been cancelled for the same evening.

All Parents!

The Board and Staff pride themselves on keeping cost of LYO membership one of the lowest in the nation at $475.

The ACTUAL annual cost of membership in the LYO for one year is $1,400.

We are able to keep our membership fee low due to many types of fundraising, generous individual donors and corporate support.  There are additional ways in which parents can assist us.  Please review the opportunities below.  Thank you in advance for any additional help you can offer.

Family Sponsorship

Forms for Family Sponsorships will be available at your audition and are also online.  Family Sponsorships offer a range of premiums including free tickets, free CDs and prominent listing in all of our programs depending upon the size of your fully tax-deductible gift.
