The Louisville Youth Orchestra is excited to announce Misaki Hall will be joining LYO’s talented team of conductors as Staff Assistant Conductor. In her role, Ms. Hall will serve as an assistant conductor for all LYO ensembles, lead sectionals, and provide instructional coaching.

Misaki Hall is a conductor and violinist based in Louisville, Kentucky, where she currently serves as rehearsal assistant of the Louisville Orchestra and conductor of the Kling Chamber Orchestra, one of the state’s string orchestras. As a guest conductor, Misaki has conducted the Louisville Civic Orchestra, Louisville Youth Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and Orchestra Northern Arizona. In January 2025, she received the placement of first-prize winner in the International Conductors Workshop and Competition in Atlanta and will perform as a guest conductor with the Gwinnett Symphony later this year as a result. In the fall semester of 2023, she served as lecturer and sabbatical replacement for the University of Louisville Symphony Orchestra and graduate orchestral conducting program. In the summers, Misaki has attended the Pierre Monteux School and Music Festival as a conductor, violinist, and orchestra assistant from 2022 to 2025.
As an instrumentalist, Misaki enjoys playing in various ensembles and genres of music. She has performed as a solo jazz violinist with the Count Basie Orchestra as well as the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and plays as section violinist in regional orchestras of Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee. She also plays synthesizer in her psychedelic-rock band, DOOM GONG.
Misaki obtained her bachelor’s degree in violin performance and master’s degree in conducting from the University of Louisville School of Music. Originally from Radcliff, Kentucky, she was a student at the Hardin County Schools and holds fond memories of commuting to Louisville Youth Orchestra rehearsals from 4th to 12th grade.
